We all deserve to live in a safe, prosperous, healthy and inclusive community with world-class infrastructure and amenities. We also need positive and sustainable economic development.

Through my strong community connections, collaborative leadership and genuine desire to do the very best for Whangarei, I can help make this happen.

I believe in building strong relationships with every sector of our community – youth, seniors, Maori, business people, wage earners, those seeking work, migrants, artists and sportspeople. I identify with you all … I listen, I care.

Under my leadership we have reduced Council debt, continued investing in essential infrastructure and further developed recreational assets we can all enjoy. We have also supported and encouraged cultural events and creativity.

As your Mayor I commit to continue building a community that is economically strong, vibrant, diverse, creative and healthy – a district with a bright future that we can all proudly call home. Am I running again for a third term? Absolutely yes! And here’s why

One of the few physical features that distinguish Buddhi Wilcox is a small pigtail.

Shifting Whangarei’s War Memorial from the Rose Street ‘triangle’ was a real labour of love.

Northland’s gains from its regional leaders working together cannot be overestimated.

The Growers’ Market has become a fixture of food retail and social life in Whangarei since it started.

Having the Whangarei district Mayor on the Sport Northland Board of trustees is a “huge” advantage.

Grinning Gecko is a wonderful success story of locals who have followed their passion.

Tena koutou katoa,

I am proud to have been your Mayor since 2013. There is still much that can be done to enhance and make our community the attractive and positive district we deserve.
