Our region has benefited over the last three years from a shared and united vision by its leaders. Through this forum, I have agreed to do whatever I can to benefit the people of our region: economically, socially, environmentally and culturally.  I will continue to actively contribute to this collaborative leadership for the benefit of both Whangarei and Northland.

Having the Whangarei district Mayor on the Sport Northland Board of trustees is a “huge” advantage to what the board wants to achieve, according to board chair Chris Biddles.

Northland’s gains from its regional leaders working together cannot be overestimated says Far North Mayor John Carter, and he puts Whangarei Mayor Sheryl Mai as having a big role in the region’s gains.

Sheryl Mai has been a long-time supporter of the Northland Kindergarten Association (NKA) says association president Grant Harrison.

“I was a councillor alongside Sheryl for two terms, from 2004 to 2010. During this time, she impressed me as the hardest working councillor,” says Mr Williams.
